The Clairvoyant

Several nights ago, I was talking with a friend about the evolution of humans, and it reminded me of The Voice of Knowledge by Don Miguel Ruiz, about seeing ourselves as more than just human, as artists carrying a piece of the Creator within us. It also brought to mind the clairvoyants from my home in Jamaica, who would profess what was to come long before it happened. Their stories inspired me to write this piece, to remind us that we exist in the present, that we are all artists, and that through love, unity, and creation, we are truly one.

Once there was a young man who claimed to be a clairvoyant. He had visions of future events; he could see beyond human eyes, he could see spirit. He was an artist, so he drew pictures to profess what he saw. But when he showcased these things, they called him crazy. They disregarded his words and left him to fail. Until one day, the very things he proclaimed came to pass. And the people looked at him and asked, are you the Messiah? Who are you? Where did you come from? He said, I’m human just like you but not just a human, an artist. But even with all he said, the people were still confused. So they dismissed his words and declared he was a prophet. A prophet sent by the Almighty to help his people. But when they called him this, he answered, I’m a prophet but you are too. We’re all prophets and artists. If an Artist created us and left a piece of Himself in us, we too can create. The young clairvoyant believed that as people, we manifest our own outcome. It’s upon us to reach that consciousness, and realize through meditation, through seeing self as more than human, we start to see ourselves as artists and prophets here to love and to provide.

We can do many things in many ways. Three different forms, one story. Three different voices, but the same truth. No matter who you are, you know art. You carry a story. So let it be told. Be the one to tell it. It doesn’t matter when. It doesn’t matter how. Just tell it. Your story will help someone, will do something no one else but you could ever do. So be wise, stand up, and never run away. Express yourself, for you’re here today. Life spins, turns; today it bends. One path begins, another ends. But every twist and curve you see is shaping you intentionally. You choose to curse or choose to praise, to close your eyes or lift your gaze. The universe speaks if you open your ears. It is guiding softly through winds and tears. So, kill the ego, quiet the mind, let the spirit lead and see what you find. Hear the words and find joy. Feel the heartbeat and wonder why. Love in the now, not in regret. For you are not lost just yet. You are found in the present of now.
